The practice of Massage Therapy is the assessment of soft tissue and joints of the body and the treatment and prevention of dysfunction, injury, pain and physical disorders of the soft tissues and joints by manual and physical methods to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function to relieve pain and promote health.

Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) are primary health care providers, licensed and registered under the Health Professions Act of BC.

Your appointment is the total time booked with your therapist and will consist of the following: consultation, assessment, treatment, exercise, and home-care.

Hello, thanks for checking out my bio!

I’m a Maple Ridge RMT with 20 years of experience helping humans recover from injury, manage pain, and learn sustainable self care strategies.

I graduated from the 3000-hour program at WCCMT in April 2006.

My clinical practice is focused on orthopaedic and neurological injuries and conditions, persistant pain disorders, and difficult/complex cases with poor recovery or plateau.

Throughout my career I’ve also been involved in education, regulation, and governance of the profession. I held a postion on the board of directors of the College of Massage Therapists of BC, was a contracted mentor for onboarding new graduates, and a member of the faculty (sessional lecturer) at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy - Jurisprudence (Health Regulations).

Here’s an incomplete list of some of the injuries and conditions I provide care for: Traumatic injuries to the Head and Neck - Concussion - Habituation/Gaze Stabilization - Cervicogenic Headache - Vertigo and Dizziness - Myalgic Encephelomyelitits (ME/CFS) - Fibromyalgia (FM) - Multiple Sclerosis (MS) - Chronic Pain Disorders - Migraines & Headaches - Neuropathies like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Sciatica -Numbness and Tingling in the hands or feet - Tendonitis/Tendinopathies - Sprains and Strains - Medial/Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis/Golfer elbow) - Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis) - Post surgical support - Stress/Anxiety Management - Self Care - Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) - Trigeminal Neuralgia

Prior to Massage Therapy, I was formerly a Veterinary Assistant/Nurse, a Canadian Equestrian Federation level 1 Dressage Coach, A First Responder/Professional Ski Patrol, and a working student for a level III Dressage Coach and Paralympic Athlete.

My formal education includes a Bachelor of Health Science, Diploma in Massage Therapy, Certificate of Veterinary Nursing, Occupational First Aid III, Canadian Equestrian Federation Level 1 Coach, and National Coaching Certificate Level 1.

And an obnoxiously extensive post graduate studies list much too long to include in this brief synopsis. I’m an avid consumer of research articles, relevant science-based literature, and scholarly articles.

Dog training and animal behaviour are a few of my special interests outside of my clinical practice. I’ve been working with and training animals for 40 years. I train and participate in Competition Obedience Dog Sports with my beloved standard poodle, Apollo, for the last 8 years, and in Dressage and Yeehaw cowgirl sports for most of my childhood and adolescents.

I’m a hobby gardener, recreational trail runner/hiker/walker, mom of an archaeologist, and a serious fan of Middle Earth.
